When you clock out give me a call. I'll be waiting with supplies at my door.
Speaking at length about our plans to get out. Take a look at us now. Virtually alone.
I'll bring the beer you bring the conversation and tonight when the fire is all the way gone I'll jump your battery and follow you home

The other day I missed my chance to run away. Why can't I just get my shit together? Pack my things and reassess the future. Another week. Another chance to make a change. But I'll just get drunk with my friends. It solves nothing but it's a cheap fix.
I never was one to give a fuck about anything but if I was, leaving this town would be a priority. I never was one to give a fuck about myself but I'm too young to think that way.
So I'll stay up late listening to records that you play. Trying to feel better. Cause its all we can do.

Sometimes I think about that old house and the way you didn't give a shit when I went out. I was stupid for sleeping around.
I would give anything to be yours again but it's apparent you can't stand me. How could I blame you?
Your artwork still hangs in that old house because I can't stomach to throw it out. A portrait of my best friend so well drawn.
Please bury me closer to you than we are now. Before you found out I was worthless. I'm so worthless.

I wanna be back in the 90s. Playing Nintendo. Chasing Mr. Tastee. I wanna be back in the 90s. We'd make paper footballs and you'd flick one at me.
The note inside says "after class would you ride you're bike down to my house? I'll be in the back, skating the ramp waiting for you." And if you bring the tape recorder, we could jam and fuck with the new one. I'll steal a beer from your dad if that's cool with you.
I wanna be back in the 90s. Playing Donkey Kong and watching Pete and Pete. I don't wanna be in 2000 anything. Things just aren't the way I thought they would be.

Last night I had a dream that I was in your house. Sitting in my church clothes on your couch. Playing tag in the backyard with my cousins and the smell of a Thanksgiving feast in the oven.
Bernice we miss you but sure look good in blue. Bernice we'll miss you but you look damn good in...
My memory. That's all I have of you. At least it is a good one. And when I think about you I feel the warmth of the sun. And when Hank Williams comes on in my truck I get fucking goosebumps because I know in the back of my mind you are riding shotgun.
